It was a privilege to be invited by AIUK to speak to MP’s and government officials about our primary campaign of the year, “The Impact on Children of Armed Conflict and War”. The event was centred on 5 contemporary human rights issues that are prevalent nationally and globally. It was a great opportunity to network with fellow activists and attendees, where we spoke about our collective efforts to raise awareness of our chosen human rights issues and the changes we want to make in our communities.

We also got to hear from some truly inspiring individuals, such as Anoosheh Ashoori, whose story demonstrates the real-life impact of advocacy and activism on individual lives. More can be found about him here.

It was an incredible opportunity to delve into the purpose of our campaign and the profound, unprecedented harm current world events are causing children. This is an issue the committee and I are actively aiming to address at the student level, within the local community, and, hopefully, on a broader scale. As an issue particularly close to my heart, it was an honour to be able to advocate for children’s rights, and it has made me more determined than ever to drive our campaign towards making a change.
